Pre-retirees

Between children, a burgeoning career, aging parents, and a devoted spouse, your life is a constant juggling act. It’s rewarding and fulfilling and doesn’t leave time for anything else. Retirement planning is in the back of your mind, but worrying about something 10, 15, or 20 years down the road doesn’t seem realistic compared to the concerns of today. Let Wilson Advisors, LLC focus on your future retirement so you can focus on the things that matter most.

Meet Kate and Sean

Kate is a third grade teacher – when not managing 20 rambunctious children she keeps busy raising her son, Ethan, and daughter, Joy. Sean works from home as an independent contractor for technology firms. His services are in high demand and he works between 50-60 hours a week. Their lives are in constant flux and neither Kate nor Sean had given serious thought to their retirement. When Kate’s father retired, he encouraged them to get professional help managing their finances.

Kate and Sean’s primary concern was saving for retirement. We asked questions about their retirement wants and needs to better determine their future. We discovered that Kate envisioned travelling abroad once or twice a year, while Sean wanted to spend more time on the links. These wishes (and the costs associated) let us develop a retirement roadmap and funding goal.

Kate’s teaching position includes a monthly pension – this was the beginning of their future retirement income stream. Their projected Social Security benefit was calculated and added to their projected income. The difference between their projected income and estimated need was the retirement wealth gap for which Kate and Sean needed to save. We would open new IRA accounts and establish a monthly contribution plan along with life insurance policies to hedge against future uncertainties.

Kate and Sean are fictional representations of our client base. Any similarities to actual persons, living or dead, are entirely coincidental.
